logic

I’m personally not a fan of set packages and set hours (6/8/10hr package etc.)

Here you can see the films I can/do make, and you can choose what you’d like to receive,
so no money/time is wasted on things you don’t actually want, plus every wedding and couple is different so it suits many scenarios.

I bake most of my costs into the ‘base’ booking, and charge by the hour ($100) (no blowouts with $300/hr overtime etc.).
My intention is that you will just have me there for as long as necessary, without cost being a deterrant,
but not so cheap/included that I end up there for an unnecessary amount of time
(eg. 1hr vs. 3hrs of dancing won’t drastically affect your creative film – RAW edit though, yes.).

Please walk through the steps below, determine what your priorities are and you can work out your own pricing from there! Thanks!

step one

creative film

Select one.
Captured over the whole day, edited with music and audio from your vows and speeches.
Couples usually have a preference between the two after watching a few via the films page, Facebook, YouTube etc.
(Or don’t get one at all if you just want ceremony and speeches)

a. highlight reel

An exciting and engaging way to relive the day. Comprised of many little moments, glances, butt-grabs, laughs, tears, dancing, and so on. More fast paced than the short film.

Run time: 3-5 minutes.

b. short film

The Short film is your story. This is captured through vows and speeches primarily. These films are more relaxed when watching and re-tell all of the emotion and excitement from the day in greater length and pacing.

Run time: 6-8 minutes.

step two (optional)

ceremony film

If you’d like a ceremony film, I offer two options: A simplified 2-3 camera recording if you just want the basics,
or a comprehensive film with 4-5 cameras (more angles). Cost is only associated with the additional editing required.

a. simple ceremony

Standard for some, but what I consider a simple two angle set up and edit – wide and zoom shots from the center-back (some roaming camera shots too as needed – bridal entry, signing), properly audio recorded.

For those not after all the bells and whistles but would still like basic coverage as a keepsake.

Run time: Near actual length (some creative liberties may be taken during signing).

b. detailed ceremony

Full 4-5 camera coverage from both sides, back, and roaming.

Allows for a much more engaging viewing experience, with audience shots, creative angles, both sides for reactions and feels.

More expensive due to the additional editing required.

Run time: Near actual length (some creative liberties may be taken during signing).

step three (upgrade optional)

reception film

A simple speeches film is included.
If it’s important to you to have the dance in full, plus any games, etc. it can be upgraded to the detailed reception.

a. simple speeches (included)

A simple speeches only film. Includes your reactions inset in the corner.

Other parts like the entry, dances, cake, may be less important to you (not necessary to have in full), these are of course still captured and may be partly included in the creative film as it is part of the day.

Run time: Length of actual speeches (20-40 mins usually).

b. detailed reception (optional upgrade)

Longer film comprising of whatever formalities may take place at the reception.
Often the entry, speeches, cake cutting, dances, throwing of things (bouquet/garter), any games etc.

The ‘simple speeches’ satisfies most couples, I’d suggest opting for this if you have a choreographed dance and/or any games you’d like in full, from multiple angles.

Run time: Typically 30-50 minutes.

step four (optional)

raw edit

FOMO? This is a very loose edit of all the primary camera’s short highlight style (B-Roll) clips with camera-sound.
Quite a difficult deliverable to describe. Read more about it here and see some examples.

Example notes: Sound removed. Blurred for privacy. Sped up so you get the idea without it being actual length.

b-roll, as it happened, with camera sound

In my view, the best way to relive the day as an “invisible” bystander (me).

Short, highlight style, B-roll clips captured from the primary camera(s) (with me pretty much at all times) over the entire day.

This edit allows all of those 1-2 second moments in the creative film (and the outtakes) to breathe, and be viewed in their full context, in the natural order of the day.

(In filmmaking ‘A-Roll’ is the primary story telling – eg. ceremony vows, speeches – the longer duration parts of the day, ‘B-Roll’ is all of the cutaways / over-layed clips).

features / what to expect
  • Footage that IS and IS NOT (outtakes) in your creative film.
  • Natural camera-sound.
  • Minimal editing (clips are top and tailed – typically out of focus/off subject anyway) for easier viewing.
  • Most if not all key moments, first looks, kiss, photoshoot, dancing, etc.
  • Cutaways, decor, location shots, guests, inappropriateness, swearing, jokes, banter, falling over, boring shots, people ruining a shot by picking their nose /not smiling/looking the wrong way etc., bad/excessive/inappropriate dancing, spilling drinks, breaking glasses, splitting pants, the list goes on.
  • Anything that may have good or funny sound but may not make a good shot to have in a film (shaky camera / out of focus etc.).
  • Colour corrected, sound corrected, playback-friendly file format.
  • Duration: 40-110 minutes (too many variables – eg. coverage time, long speeches = less B-Roll shot at that time etc.)
what not to expect

It is not interchangeable with dedicated ceremony or reception film* edits – these should be edited with sound and cameras in sync with one another.

It is not all clips on a hard drive with the intention of editing it later. (generally not why you’d hire me anyway).

It is not long clips from each different camera angle. eg. Full ceremony from left side, full ceremony from right side, and so on…

*one could opt for the raw edit over a detailed reception edit, to still see the entry/cake cut/dancing etc. in full, but the coverage/edit would not be as good as a detailed reception film, and would not be continuous.
